Οι ευρωβουλευτές ανταποκρίθηκαν στο κάλεσμα του Ανεξάρτητου Ευρωβουλευτή, Κρίτωνα Αρσένη να στηρίξουν με την υπογραφή τους την επιστολή της Ευρωπαϊκής Ομοσπονδίας Εργαζομένων στους Οργανισμούς Κοινής Ωφελείας (EFPSU).

Με την επιστολή οι Ευρωβουλευτές ζητούν από τους υποψήφιους αγοραστές να αποσυρθούν από το διαγωνισμό. Χαρακτηριστικό της μαζικής υιοθέτησης του αιτήματος από τα μέλη του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου είναι ότι μεταξύ των συνυπογραφόντων περιλαμβάνονται: η επικεφαλής των Φιλανδών Σοσιαλιστών Liisa Jaakonsaari, η επικεφαλής των Σουηδών Σοσιαλιστών Marita Ulvskog, αλλά και η επικεφαλής της ομάδας της Ενωμένης Αριστεράς Gabriele Zimmer.

Την επιστολή υπογράφουν και 130 φορείς από όλη την Ευρώπη.

Όπως δήλωσε ο Κρίτων Αρσένης: «Χθες ήταν η Eldorado Gold που ανακοίνωσε την αποχώρησή της από την εξόρυξη στις Σκουριές. Σήμερα, 50 Ευρωβουλευτές ζητάμε από τις εταιρίες Suez, Άκτωρ, ΤΕΡΝΑ, Mekorot και Arison να αποσυρθούν από το διαγωνισμό για την ιδιωτικοποίηση του νερού της Θεσσαλονίκης. Καμία εξόρυξη, καμία ιδιωτικοποίηση δημόσιων αγαθών, καμία πώληση της δημόσιας περιουσίας δεν πρόκειται να προχωρήσει ενάντια στη βούληση των τοπικών κοινωνιών και ενάντια στην κοινή λογική. Όσες εταιρίες συμμετέχουν σε τέτοιους διαγωνισμούς θα ζημιωθούν λόγω των μαζικών διεθνών και τοπικών αντιδράσεων. Το μήνυμα όμως των Ευρωβουλευτών στρέφεται και προς την κυβέρνηση. Όσο και αν διαλύουν το θεσμικό πλαίσιο, όσο και αν χαρίζουν τη δημόσια περιουσία, όσο και αν νομιμοποιούν αυθαίρετες δραστηριότητες δε θα καταφέρουν να επιβάλουν στις τοπικές κοινωνίες τις παράλογες επιλογές τους. Το μόνο που καταφέρνουν να κάνουν είναι να μας μετατρέπουν σε αφρικανική χώρα, όπου όλα επιτρέπονται και κανείς δεν επενδύει. Προϋπόθεση για την έξοδο από την κρίση είναι ένα πλήρες νομοθετικό πλαίσιο που προστατεύει πολίτες και επενδυτές από αυθαιρεσίες ενάντια στην δημόσια υγεία, το περιβάλλον και την πολιτιστική μας κληρονομιά, αλλά και η κοινωνική συναίνεση και η κοινωνική ειρήνη.»

Προς τις εταιρίες που συμμετέχουν στη διαδικασία εξαγοράς της ΕΥΑΘ: Δε σας θέλουμε στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Παρακαλούμε να αποσύρετε την προσφορά σας.

Ο τύπος αναφέρει ότι η εταιρία σας συμμετέχει στο διαγωνισμό για την ιδιωτικοποίηση της ΕΥΑΘ, της Εταιρίας Ύδρευσης και Αποχέτευσης της Θεσσαλονίκης. Σας ζητάμε να αποσύρετε την προσφορά σας.

Θα πρέπει να γνωρίζετε ότι η ιδιωτικοποίηση της ΕΥΑΘ βρίσκει αντίθετους τους πολίτες της πόλης, τους εργαζόμενους, καθώς και τους δήμους της Θεσσαλονίκης. Ο μόνος λόγος που η διαδικασία της ιδιωτικοποίησης είναι ακόμη σε εξέλιξη είναι γιατί αυτή επιβάλλεται από την ελληνική κυβέρνηση, η οποία βρίσκεται υπό την πίεση της Τρόικας για τη μείωση του ελληνικού χρέους. Δεν υπάρχει τίποτα ευγενές στην κερδοσκοπία από την ιδιωτικοποίηση της ΕΥΑΘ, ούτε για εσάς ούτε για την εταιρία σας. Οι πολίτες της Θεσσαλονίκης, που υποστηρίζονται από πολλές άλλες ομάδες ανησυχούν ότι η εταιρία σας από αυτή την επένδυση θα επιδιώξει κέρδη εις βάρος των πολιτών της Θεσσαλονίκης και των εργαζομένων στην ΕΥΑΘ. Όπως συνέβη και σε άλλες περιοχές, είναι πιθανό να αντιμετωπίσετε μεγάλο διάστημα παρατεταμένης αντίδρασης τόσο στη Θεσσαλονίκη, στην Ελλάδα όσο και στον υπόλοιπο κόσμο. Οι αγώνες αυτοί είναι καλά οργανωμένοι και τεκμηριωμένοι. Οι εταιρίες που συμμετέχουν σε τέτοιες επιχειρηματικές πρωτοβουλίες καταλήγουν με τη φήμη τους αμαυρωμένη, την αξιοπιστία τους κατακερματισμένη, τους επιχειρηματικούς κινδύνους αυξημένους και τα κέρδη περιορισμένα. Πιστεύουμε ότι η προσφορά σας βασίζεται σε μια αδύναμη επιχειρηματική υπόθεση. Θέλουμε να ελπίζουμε ότι οι επιχειρήσεις σήμερα δεν βασίζουν το επιχειρηματικό τους μοντέλο στον οπορτουνισμό, ούτε λαμβάνουν επιχειρηματικές πρωτοβουλίες που είναι σαφώς ανεπιθύμητες.

Υπάρχει εναλλακτική λύση για την ΕΥΑΘ, που υποστηρίζεται από τους εργαζόμενους της ΕΥΑΘ, τους πολίτες της Θεσσαλονίκης, τους δήμους και εμάς. Αυτή είναι να παραμείνει το νερό στην ιδιοκτησία του δημοσίου, έτσι ώστε να εξασφαλιστεί ότι θα συνεχίσει να παρέχει υπηρεσίες υψηλής ποιότητας. Απορρέει από το γεγονός ότι το νερό είναι ένα κοινό αγαθό και η πρόσβαση σε πόσιμο νερό και εγκαταστάσεις υγιεινής είναι ένα βασικό ανθρώπινο δικαίωμα, όπως αναγνωρίζεται από τον ΟΗΕ (2010) και την επιτυχημένη Ευρωπαϊκή Πρωτοβουλία Πολιτών ‘Το νερό είναι ανθρώπινο δικαίωμα’.

Ζητούμε λοιπόν να αποσύρετε την προσφορά σας και να αφήσετε τους πολίτες της Θεσσαλονίκης να καθορίσουν το μέλλον της ΕΥΑΘ.
